This is a translation of the Dutch privacy statement. If the two differ, the Dutch text prevails.
Who I am
This website belongs to Niels Roest. I am responsible for the processing of personal data on this site. Questions or requests: nielsroest1981@gmail.com.
What I process and why
| Data | IP address and browser data (user agent) in my hosting provider's logs; which pages you view and what you click on: buttons such as email and telephone, the menu, links to other sites (only the name of that site), which sections were on your screen and how far you scrolled |
|---|---|
| Purpose | Providing and securing the website; seeing which parts visitors use, so that I can improve the site |
| Legal basis | Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) |
| Retention period | Hosting logs 1 day; statistics according to the fixed period of Vercel Web Analytics |
The statistics (Vercel Web Analytics) do not use cookies, store nothing in your browser and do not track you across other websites.
If you email or call me, I use your data to reply. If this leads to an assignment, I keep invoices and contact details for 7 years because of the statutory tax retention obligation.
With whom I share data
| Party | For what | Where | Safeguard |
|---|---|---|---|
| Vercel Inc. | Hosting and visitor statistics | Pages are served from a European location; server functions and platform logs in the United States | EU-US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses |
I do not sell data, and I only share it otherwise where the law requires it.
Cookies

Your rights
You can ask me for access to, rectification, erasure or restriction of your data, or for data portability, and you can object to the processing. Email nielsroest1981@gmail.com. I will respond within one month. For a complex request, this may take two months longer, and I will tell you within the first month. I may ask you who you are, but I do not keep a copy of your identity document.
You can lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
I do not make automated decisions about you.
Security and changes
